科學家推測,如果我們的太陽系中存在第九顆行星,那麼該望遠鏡有可能在第一年內找到它。

The first images taken by the world's most powerful telescope have been revealed.
They were captured by the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) camera stationed in Chile.
These photos showcase the night sky in incredible detail.
The images display clouds of gas and dust thousands of light years away.

Scientists will share more pictures and videos captured by the camera soon.
The debut images include views of star-forming regions and distant galaxies.
One of the initial images is composed of 678 exposures taken over seven hours.
It presents the Trifid Nebula and the Lagoon Nebula, both located far from Earth.

Another photo shows the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, much larger than the Milky Way.
The LSST aims to photograph the night sky every three days over the next ten years.
It boasts a resolution of 3,200 megapixels, surpassing that of top-of-the-range phones.
The camera, the size of a small car and weighing 2,800kg, cannot be carried around.

Instead, it is housed at the Vera C Rubin Observatory in Chile, connected to a powerful telescope.
The observatory's mountaintop location provides ideal conditions for observing the cosmos.
The LSST will capture images so large that they would require 400 ultra-high-definition televisions to display at full scale.
Over the next decade, the camera plans to take 1,000 images a night to document 20 billion galaxies.

The ultimate goal is to create a time-lapse record of the universe in ultra-high-definition.
It is believed that the observatory will significantly advance our knowledge of the cosmos, helping to unravel mysteries such as dark matter and the formation of galaxies.
Scientists speculate that if there is a ninth planet in our solar system, the telescope has the potential to find it within the first year.
