LONDON — Ethel Caterham, a 115-year-old British woman, has become the world's oldest living person after a Brazilian nun recently passed away.

Caterham believes the key to her long life is avoiding arguments with others.

Born in 1909, she has lived through major historical events such as World War I.

In her youth, Caterham traveled to India to work as a nanny for a British family and later met her husband, who was a major in the British army.

She currently resides in a nursing home in southwest London and recently celebrated her milestone birthday with a tiara and cake.
