LONDON — British regulators criticized both sides in a dispute over the future of a charity founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales found no evidence of widespread bullying or misogyny at Sentebale, a charity that supports young people living with HIV in Botswana and Lesotho.

The commission opened a review of Sentebale's governance in April after the two princes stepped down as patrons and a group of trustees, stating that the relationship between the board and its chair, Sophie Chandauka, was beyond repair.

Chandauka accused Harry of orchestrating a campaign of bullying and harassment to try to force her out, which led to disagreements over the organization's future in 2023 after a new fundraising strategy was proposed in the United States by the then-board of trustees.

The dispute between Chandauka, other trustees, and Harry surfaced in February 2025, and tensions became public in March when Harry announced his resignation as a patron to support the trustees who had resigned.

The commission's CEO, David Holdsworth, expressed concerns about the damaging effects of the public dispute on Sentebale's reputation and its ability to serve its beneficiaries.

Harry's spokesman criticized the commission's decision, stating that the consequences of the current chair's actions will negatively impact the children relying on Sentebale's support.

Harry's spokesman mentioned that the prince will explore other ways to assist young people in Botswana and Lesotho, while Chandauka welcomed the report confirming the governance issues she raised earlier this year.
