A piece of a Soviet spacecraft launched in 1972 is expected to crash back down to Earth very soon, experts say.

The part, which is from the Cosmos 482 probe, was meant to land on the planet Venus.

The probe successfully made it into space but couldn't complete its journey due to issues.

Most of the rocket's remains returned to Earth within 10 years, leaving a section stuck in space for over 50 years.

The part was supposed to carry out scientific measurements on Venus, but got stranded due to engine failure.

Though the main spacecraft disintegrated, the lander module remained in orbit and is now falling back to Earth.

It will enter the Earth's atmosphere soon, creating a brief fiery display before landing, possibly in the sea.
