Paris Cauldron Relights Skyline After Olympics

Following the Paris Olympics, a helium-powered balloon known as the 'Paris Cauldron' returned to light up the city's skyline.

The balloon attracted around 30,000 visitors on its relaunch flight, coinciding with France's Fete de la Musique street music festival.

Rebranded and refurbished, the cauldron will make regular evening flights from June 21 to Sept. 14 for the next three years.

The structure, created by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur and powered by EDF, features LED lights and mist jets for a flame-like effect using helium as lift.

After dazzling during the Olympics, the cauldron has been reinforced to withstand outdoor exposure over several seasons.

The balloon's return is part of French President Emmanuel Macron's efforts to keep the Games' spirit alive in preparation for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
