Marine Conservation Society and Natural History Museum scientists want people to join the Big Seaweed Search Week in the UK from July 26 to August 3.

During the week, the public is asked to record the seaweed species they find to help document changes to coastal environments.

The search will help scientists understand where different seaweed species grow across the UK and how to keep oceans healthy.

The Big Seaweed Search focuses on 14 seaweed species sensitive to factors like rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification.

Seaweed helps absorb carbon from the ocean, combat climate change, and reduce the effects of ocean acidification.

Common seaweed species like Bladderwrack, Knotted wrack, Sugar kelp, and Thongweed play vital roles in the health of our planet with distinctive features and colors.
