However, a growing number of Nepalis are beginning to embrace coffee, with trendy cafes appearing across the country.
The capital, Kathmandu, is home to one of the pioneering cafes, Himalayan Java, founded by Gagan Pradhan.

Pradhan has expanded his business to include 84 cafe locations across Nepal.
He notes that the cafe business offers a low initial investment, making it appealing to entrepreneurs.

Despite coffee being imported in Nepal, coffee plantations are starting to appear in the country's eastern tea-growing regions.
According to Nepal's National Tea and Coffee Development Board, coffee production is increasing, with around 400 tons produced annually.

Pradhan believes that the rising trend of coffee consumption in Nepal will continue to grow, with both young and old people enjoying the drink.
