Attention sport lovers!

The full schedule for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games has been announced - and para sports will be taking centre stage.

More than 200 medals will be up for grabs across 10 sports and six para sports, with 3,000 athletes from 74 nations competing.

The event will have the biggest para sport medal tally of any Commonwealth Games in history, and for the first time ever, a para sport - para powerlifting - will receive the first medal of the competition.

The Commonwealth Games are a big international sports competition - a bit like the Olympics - but it's only for countries that are part of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth is made up of 56 countries that were mostly once part of the British Empire, including countries like Australia, Canada, India and South Africa.

It's held every four years and thousands of athletes come together from around the world to compete in loads of different sports.

There's also a para sport programme, where athletes with disabilities compete in the same events.

There will be a record number of events for para athletes at Glasgow 2026.

In total, there will be 47 para medals across six different para sports, from para powerlifting to para swimming.

That's the most of any Commonwealth Games ever!

Para athlete Olivia Breen thinks it will be a really important moment for para sports.

"It is a huge moment for para sport, with the largest medal programme in Commonwealth history, with 47 medals available across six sports.

I love the Commonwealth Games as it is the only competition where the able-bodied and para athletes are altogether and it's always so supportive and such a positive vibe," she said.

The Games will run from 23 July until 6 August 2026.
