The International Pentecost Holiness Church, founded in the early 1960s in South Africa, incorporates the tradition of polygamy into its Easter festivities.

Some men married their sixth or seventh wives during the ceremonies, while others married multiple brides at once, according to church spokesperson Vusi Ndala.

The church, which is African-initiated and mixes Pentecostal beliefs with local traditions, hosted the weddings at its headquarters in Heidelberg.

Polygamy is legal in South Africa if registered as a customary marriage, and the church holds polygamous marriages in high regard.

The church had previously organized mass weddings, but this year's event was the largest with a significant number of men marrying multiple wives simultaneously.

The ceremonies took place at a dome-shaped building that can accommodate 60,000 people in Heidelberg, with congregants wearing bridal gowns and white suits with red ties.
